The Chadron Public Library is the most frequented public building in Chadron, providing our citizens with access to creative ideas and learning opportunities. We build and sustain a literate community, promoting healthy minds and bodies, encouraging civic engagement, and advancing arts while offering access to 21st century technology. The library boasts circulation of 46,638 (2019 pre-COVID), 21,586 (2021 post-COVID).

The Chadron Public Library Foundation:

  • Manages fundraisng for the library's upcoming expansion project

  • Provides two annual scholarships of $750 each to students from Dawes County

  • Promotes and assists the library's annual Native American Film and Storytelling Festival each October

  • Is a sponsor of CSC Theatre productions for youth

  • Provides funds for special speakers and musical programs

  • Provides funding for new 21st century technology

  • Provides housing for the Friends of the Library monthly book sale items and additional storage space for the library

Our current goals:

  • Accept a current update of building architectual plans from Ratio|Humphries Poli Architects

  • Seek grants to assist in the capital campaign for funds for the expansion of our 110-year-old Carnagie Library

  • Establish committees to seek donors and supporters of the library

Our foundation welcomes the support of individuals, companies, and philanthropic foundations to ensure this dynamic institution continues into the future.
